Here are some facts that you will find in the snapshot:
1. Ohio’s plastic and rubber products industry produced goods with a net addition to the economy of $4.99 billion in 2010 or 7.5 percent of the U.S. total which makes Ohio’s ranking second in the nation;

2. Ohio ranked first in the nation in rubber products output in 2011, second in plastic products output and first in combined industry output as judged by value-added;

3. Ohio had 3.8 percent of all wage and salary employees in America during 2011. With that criterion, every segment of the polymer industry except polystyrene foam products is concentrated in Ohio;

4. More than 57,800 people worked in Ohio’s polymer industry during 2011 with 38,800 in establishments making the myriad of specific plastic products and 12,800 worked in establishments manufacturing rubber products. About 3,200 of these were making tires, and over 9,600 were making hoses, beltings, rubber products for mechanical use and so forth.

5. Employment in the plastic and rubber products industry is expected to increase about 2,400 from around 50,800 in 2010 to 53,300 in 2020;
